Godhani to Kalmna Doubling of Nagpur Division of SECR

Godhni Kalamna doubling project was initiated to enable two-way traffic between Kalamna station and Koradi power plant to ensure faster coal supply to koradi power plant. The project was extremely challenging as the new track had to be laid between two existing tracks of Nagpur – Chindwara broad gauge and existing Koradi line.

The work involved 3 major and 4 minor bridges along with embankment work for a total railway track laying length of 10 kms. Track laying work for this project was unique and challenging at the same time as it involved 12 points and crossings, 3 derailing switches and modifications of 3 yards.  Nearly 5 km of drain work was also completed in this project to avoid water logging between railway lines.

This said project was undertaken by SSFM under joint venture with one of its associated firms and was successfully completed.
